|“THE TOTALITY” part one! A brand-new era begins here! Comics legends Scott Snyder and Jim Cheung launch the Justice League into a cosmos-shaking mystery that will draw out their most terrible foes…in ways our heroes couldn’t possibly imagine! In this debut issue, Martian Manhunter struggles to protect the team from an incoming threat that will shatter the world as they know it, while a familiar face strikes out on a dark path…|
Whether you were a fan of the New 52 or DC Rebirth things haven’t been the same for the Justice League for a long time (we can all blame Barry Allen, of course). This is different though. This is fresh. This is nostalgic. This is Justice. Gone are the magnificent seven. EVERYONE is on the Justice League. Because the fate of the world sometimes requires the help of C-listers like Animal Man and Vixen. Yes, they make an appearance, even if it’s only in name.
Snyder’s first issue of Justice League hit the ground running faster than I expected. Sure it was shrouded in mystery like he’s known for but we know what’s at stake and who’s responsible in just one issue. It also hits you in all the feels as they welcome Martian Manhunter back to the team. They even spend time thanking him. It wasn’t all DOOM and gloom. The opening bit had me absolutely rolling as they took turns clowning the Bat.
The art was just OK for me. The big splash pages stood out more than anything. That being said, Cheung did a great job giving us very classic looks for the JL.
I give Justice League #1 an EN FUEGO rating! It really is a must read if you are a DC Comics fan. Snyder’s just getting started and I can tell he has a lot of great stories to tell.
